The Miami Valley Firefighter/EMS Memorial Fund Needs Your Help!
People feel better when they give. The problem is finding the right, honest cause that you can believe in and support. You can be a hero for your heroes. Did you know that in the Miami Valley alone a total of 58 firefighters and paramedics have laid down their lives for doing their jobs? It is time to honor those here in the Miami Valley who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
The Miami Valley Firefighter/EMS Memorial Association was founded in 1992. One of the goals of the Association was to construct a memorial worthy of our fallen heroes and a living monument to those that go to work every day, putting their lives at risk for our community. After a statewide competition, a sculptor with impressive credentials and 30 years experience was chosen to construct a memorial fitting of such courageous men and women. It will be located in Stubbs Memorial Park in Centerville, Ohio (See picture below.) For 16 years, different fundraising events, like fish fries and concerts have started the funding efforts, but now in the final stages of the actual memorial, the Association needs your help.
The goal is $100,000 and almost $70,000 has been raised so far. The funds will cover the cost of building and installing the memorial, excavating and preparing the site, establishing an endowment for its maintenance, and continuing to coordinate honor guard training and requests. If every member could at least give $5, we could help reach that goal. All donations are tax deductible.
Another way you can help is using special Kroger pre-paid cards for your groceries. Simply preload these cards with up to $250 and then purchase your groceries. These FREE Kroger cards are available at the credit union, and a percentage of the total purchases for the month goes to the foundation.
Times are tough, but we can all feel good about donating toward a Memorial honoring those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Give today and honor our heroes.
How You Can Help-
